Q and A
Asked and Answered
Is DB2 v.7.2 compatible with the SQL interface and drivers of DB2 OLAP Server?
What about the integration with DB2 OLAP Server?
Eric Michiels responds:
DB2 OLAP Server has an SQL interface that allows to access RDBMS sources via ODBC. This access is used
by the administrator to build the dimensions of an OLAP cube and to load the cube (using dimension and build rules). DB2 UDB v.7.2 can be used as relational source. However, I recommend that you apply at the latest fixpak (fixpak 4) to DB2 OLAP Server--or at least fixpak 3. From my own experience, I know there are some problems with the SQL interface in DB2 OLAP Server v.7.1 that have nothing to do with DB2 UDB.
