1. New Online
* DB2 LUW Performance Blog: Finding Bottlenecks with SQL and XML Statement Analysis
A "search and destroy" mission for a single rogue statement that's sucking the life from a system is the most common form of statement analysis, according to performance expert Scott Hayes' latest post. But he argues that tackling smaller, peskier problems can help you avoid bigger trouble in the first place.
* New Online Article: IBM Data Studio pureQuery Runtime for z/OS Performance
pureQuery improves application throughput on DB2 for z/OS by making it easy to code and deploy static SQL for Java. The new client optimization feature in Version 1.2 extends the benefits of static SQL to any existing Java application without changing or recompiling Java applications.
2. At the Bookstore
* Administering Informix Dynamic Server: Building the Foundation
This new guide by IBM's Carlton Doe focuses on the basic skills required to administer and maintain Informix Dynamic Server (IDS). The book, available for pre-order in advance of its October 2008 release, reviews IDS installation, configuration, back up, and recovery, and offers an introduction to monitoring instance operations.
3. Informix Update
* The Informix High Performance Loader, Part 3
After going "old-school command line" with onpladm (and liking it), Andrew Ford takes on the somewhat more tedious (but necessary) HPL maps and format objects.
