regarding stored procedures: Do you have to use Workload Manager (WLM)
managed stored procedure execution environments if you want to use one
DB2 for z/OS stored procedure program for multiple different schemas
in a database--or are there other options?

2. IBM NEWS
* IBM Tips Its Hat to Open Source Community
IBM is contributing a copy of the code for Cloudscape, an embeddable
Java-based relational database IBM acquired in the Informix purchase,
to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF). IBM donated the code, which
will be known as Derby, to help boost innovation in Java applications.
The Apache Incubator will inspect the code to ensure that it conforms
to ASF standards for licensing and code integrity. The ASF and IBM are
already working on building a development community. More than a dozen
business partners and Linux distributors lined up to support Derby,
including Red Hat, Novell, SUSE, Turbolinux and Red Flag. Once Derby
is formally approved by the ASF and accepted by the community, IBM
plans to offer a commercial version, IBM Cloudscape, based on the same
technology as the Apache code. The open source code will soon be
available for download from Apache.org. In the meantime, a binary copy
of the Derby code is available on the IBM developerWorks site.

The DB2 Information Management Technical Conference in Las Vegas
officially begins on September 20, but the opportunities to pick up
new DB2 skills start even earlier. IBM offers pre-conference classes,

on Sunday, Sept. 19. Pre-conference classes require separate
enrollment and additional fees.
