Database Management Systems
by Raghu Ramakrishnan, Johannes Gehrke
"This is an excellent database management systems textbook, covering
E-R diagrams, normalization, indexing, concurrency, locking, crash recovery,
query optimization, performance, Internet databases, data warehousing, etc. DB2
(and other DBMS's) are
mentioned throughout the text, and the ARIES recovery
algorithm (used for logging and recovery in DB2) is presented in detail. The
book is well-written, with a nice balance between theory and practice. The 3rd
edition has just been released (copyright 2003)."

DB2 Universal Database for OS/390 Certification Guide Version 7.1
by Richard Yevich, Susan Lawson
"Very good book, can be used as a reference, you don't have anything
in details but the essentials are in this book.
For certification purpose, it is as called a Guide, the main lines are related
and it's up to you to go deeper."

DB2 for the COBOL Programmer, Part 1
by Curtis Garvin and Steve Eckols
Mike Murach & Associates, 1999
"A great book for the COBOL application programmer
who needs to learn
DB2. And the way it's set up, with text on the lefthand pages and syntax and
examples on the righthand pages, makes it easy to use for reference, too."
