IBM adds Princeton Softech, DataMirror to its growing Information Management family
Posted by Kim Moutsos @ 06:11 PM ET | Aug 3, 2007

Princeton Softech is soon to be part of IBM, and its data archiving, privacy, classification, discovery, and test data management software will be adopted into the Information Management group — home of DB2, Informix and the whole Information On Demand Strategy.

The Princeton Softech acquisition (number 22 in support of Information On Demand, according to IBM's count) follows the announcement that IBM intends to acquire DataMirror by barely three weeks. IBM is picking up DataMirror technology to support real-time information delivery for analysis (as in dynamic warehousing), event detection, and integration efforts. IBM's Michael Curry, director of product strategy and management for IBM's information platform and solutions, told CRN that IBM intends to add DataMirror technology to its Information Server platform. DataMirror technology captures changed data in real time and replicates it for delivery to applications, databases or other information consumers.

Of course, if you're heading to the a href=" http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/conf">Information On Demand 2007 conference in Las Vegas this October, you should have lots of opportunities to dig more deeply into these topics. (For a light-hearted take on how to justify your attendance, check out this post by IOD conference presenter and sometime DB2 Magazine columnist Vincent McBurney.)
